Inverclyde Triathlon 2026 Update
It is with great disappointment that Inverclyde Leisure must confirm that the Inverclyde Triathlon will not take place in 2026.
After 19 years of welcoming competitors from across Scotland and beyond, the event scheduled for Sunday 23 August 2026 has been cancelled due to updated road management requirements relating to the cycling element of the race.
The Inverclyde Triathlon has become one of the area’s most established and popular community sporting events, attracting hundreds of participants over nearly two decades and showcasing Inverclyde as a destination for sport and physical activity.
Since its launch in 2007, the event has become a valued fixture in the local sporting calendar, welcoming both experienced athletes and first-time competitors from across the country.
This Decision Has Not Been Taken Lightly
We understand this news will be extremely disappointing for those who had entered, supported or planned to take part.
Please be assured that this is not a decision Inverclyde Leisure has taken lightly. We have explored every possible option to allow the event to proceed, however circumstances beyond our control mean the cycling section of the event cannot take place this year.

A Message from Inverclyde Leisure
“We know this news will be extremely disappointing for competitors, volunteers and supporters who have helped make the Inverclyde Triathlon such a successful event over the last 19 years.
While we are saddened that the Triathlon cannot proceed in its traditional format this year, we are pleased that we can still deliver an Aquathlon event and provide participants with the opportunity to compete and enjoy the atmosphere that has become synonymous with the event.
We would like to thank everyone for their understanding, patience and continued support.”
